Cherry Blossom in Shillong | Display of Nature's Beauty

Cherry blossom is one of the prominent festivals of the Northeast, especially in Meghalaya which is celebrated during November if I am not wrong during mid of November.

During this season you can see the whole Meghalaya is covered with pink white Jainsem the Khasi traditional saree

People say to travel to Japan to see the cherry blossom but why when you can experience it in Shillong

It’s less expensive than traveling to Japan. People here are kind-hearted and friendly.

Northeast is surrounded by beautiful mountains, waterfalls, caves, lush forests, and rivers.

During this time, you can see Shillong dipped in pink-white.

This is my first time seeing and experiencing such things. I used to stop on my bike and adore the beauty when you look at the sky you feel as if the blue sky in the shades of pink and white it’s a different feel.

The festival is a 3 days event, every year this festival is to promote music, art, and culture mostly it provides a platform to music talented artists from the state not only from the state but from across the northeast region

Several contests use to happen I had the privilege this time to visit every stall there was food, local wine, there was local food, Korean, Japanese

Apart from these, you have singing, dancing, and fashion shows

Most of the events are held in two venues one on polo grounds and the other in Wards Lake

These three-day events in the city are full of joy and harmony, with chaos in between few traffic blocks.

The festival is gaining popularity every year and the people who come to see the festival are outgrowing every year

I got so involved I felt like the festive should be never-ending, now I have to wait till November for the next blossom.

How to reach Shillong

By Air

The nearest airport to Shillong is the Shillong Airport (also known as Umroi Airport), located about 30 kilometers away from the city. However, this airport has limited connectivity and flights. Alternatively, you can fly to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam, which is around 120 kilometers from Shillong. From Guwahati, you can take a taxi or bus to Shillong, which takes approximately 3-4 hours depending on the traffic and road conditions.

By Train

There is no direct train connectivity to Shillong. The nearest major railway station is Guwahati Railway Station in Assam. From Guwahati, you can take a taxi or bus to Shillong.

By Road

From Guwahati: Shillong is well-connected by road to Guwahati. You can either hire a taxi or take a bus from Guwahati to Shillong. The journey takes around 3-4 hours depending on the traffic and road conditions.
From other parts of Meghalaya: There are also bus services available from other towns and cities within Meghalaya to Shillong.
Private taxis and rental cars are also available for hire from various nearby cities and towns.

By Bus

Shillong is well-connected by road with neighboring states and cities. You can find both government and private bus services operating from cities like Guwahati, Silchar, and other nearby towns.

Once you reach Shillong, you can explore the city and its surroundings using local taxis, rented vehicles, or public transportation. Keep in mind that road conditions in the region may vary, especially during the monsoon season, so it’s advisable to check the weather and road conditions before planning your journey.
